Living Eat, Pray, Love (10.7.10)

Today I finally got to see Eat, Pray, Love!! I had been dying to see it in the States, but since I am a severe procrastinator the night before I left for Berlin it came down to packing or seeing the movie. Yep, I was that person who didn't start packing until about 8 hours before it was time to leave. I can't say that I've learned from that experience honestly. Every trip we take, I'm still packing right before I leave. P.S. Mike, thanks for trying so hard to get me to see it. Man, that seems like so long ago, but yet it seems like just yesterday.

Anyway, back to the movie. I would highly recommend seeing the film if you haven't. It starts out slow, but it gets better as it goes on. In case you have no idea what the movie is about, I'll give you a brief synopsis. Julia Roberts, my favorite actress, plays a woman who had a love for traveling, but with each relationship she was in her interests reflected her boyfriend/husband's instead of her own. She decides to give up everything and travel the world for 1 year. She goes to Italy, India, and Bali. I felt like it was my life being portrayed on the screen. Liz, played by Julia Roberts, remarks she had been in a relationship since she was 15. She said she hasn't had a chance to be ok with herself. Albeit she is older than I am in the movie, that is the story of my life. My study abroad experience is about finding myself again, and finally doing something for myself without feeling guilty.

I would love to spend a year in different countries as she did in the movie. One of the things I have learned from living in Berlin is that you can't truly experience a city in 4 or 5 days. Sure, you can see it, but not experience it. It saddens me to realize that in January I start the real world, where my dream of living abroad fades to a fantasy.

Anywho, that's my plug for seeing the movie. If you have seen it, hope you enjoyed it as much as I did :D

Oh and the movie theater experience here is a little bit different, as I said earlier you get to choose where you sit when you buy the tickets. Also after the previews, they close the curtains and come out and sell ice cream. They sell Magnum ice cream bars. Let me just say, they are amazing! I had the white chocolate one - delicious!
